    Breaking Point

The other day, I found myself complaining about Japan. A lot. It's become more and more apparent that the honeymoon is over.

Every foreigner I know who has spent at least 1 year here has met a similar breaking point. The point at which something snaps, reshaping their view of this great nation. It's not hate or disdain, but more like, seeing it objectively for the first time. And with that new neutrality, you see not only the good that this country has to offer, but also the bad.

In times like these, you have to remind yourself why you came to Japan in the first place. It's easy to get caught up in the negative, but reiterating your reason for being here helps you endure and continue to have a great experience.

Hang in there. I complain about Japan a lot too but I know in some ways it's better than America. I'm saying this because I lived in Jersey City, NJ for a while and coming to Japan was a blessing.

You might have come from a great place in America with friends or what not. With the background of living in Jersey City and then coming here with relative safety in the streets, it takes a lot off your chest. I complain, yes, but then I think it's better than Jersey.

There might be a lot of things you don't understand or just plain think crazy. Then again there are more fucked up people in America.

Thanks for the support and advice. These days, whenever I get frustrated, I take a step back, breath, and realize it's usually nothing or a small setback.

There are some things we'll just never "get", but at least we're getting a great experience, right?
